I have spent a full week reading various Photoshop tutorials and a few gimp (mostly trivial) tidbits here and there. I have hammered so many techniques in to my brain I feel like collapsing from thought exhaustion.

I've become obsessed with the idea that I can achieve results I'd never have thought possible with the technical know-how to post-process images like the pros (apart from the just being a good photographer part).

I'm not a purist, mostly because to me the extraction of any given moment in photo format should be capitalised on (at least in my opinion) for maximum result (result defined by personal take on image vibrance & impact). This ideas does not sit well with taking photos and leaving them as they are.

Untouched photos have their place, and certainly with the right equipment and lightning you can achieve excellent results, but with what I have now and the direction I'm going to take with my taking photos (I could of used the word photography but I'm not pretentious enough to think I'm there yet) I'm happy to learn everything I can about working with photos in creative ways.

I am convinced that when the day (not soon enough) comes along that I have my new DSLR I am going to be pumping out amazing images and at that point have the wisdom to know what to do with them.

A camera does not a good photographer make, but what needs to be understood is I'm working with a digicam that just can't pump out the quality needed in low light situations - or really any situation where I'd want.... wait, Do I need to explain this?

Call me full of it, You can't shake this idea of mine :)
I'm excited with my growing passion.

Tony.

p.s

Over the coming weeks you'll see a lot of new photos with a very different look. I'm going to be experimenting with all kinds of different effects using famous photographers to channel and learn off  so I can recreate things in order to see how it's done. Some stuff is going to be crap - that's the nature of learning.

We all started somewhere,
I start now !!

Nikon FE2

1 min read
I scored a Nikon FE2 with a 50mm 1:8 and a UV lens.
I've gone photo mad trying to waste my first 36 shots so I can process them and see if I've been taking the photos correctly.

It doesn't look like I'll be reliably able to save for the Nikon D90 for around 2 months, but at least I have this awesome SLR to tide me over until then !!

Here's what it looks like :

Fixing up a lot of old photos I never had the skill to process.
Lots of new content coming in as I go over the last 3 years of pictures.

Bear in mind (as I like to point out) that everything you see has been taken with a $150 Sony digicam, so there's a lot of quality issues that I can't and won't be able to fix until I've saved for my Nikon.

That being said, I'm also very proud of some of the moments I've been able to capture and process with the camera I have, compartively - I think some of them hold up quite well to a professional camera product.

I've also scrapped the CSS journal untill I have more time to fiddle with it and get it not being such a pain just to make a new entry (I don't want to have to play with CSS to make a journal entry - doing so will only make entries far between due to effort).

I've also(x2) managed to loose a fair few watchers due to my absence which is kind of a bummer because now more than ever (especially with my HDR rampage) I could of / can really use the feedback.

Nikon D90

I am saving for a Nikon D90 !

I've been told countless times I can take a pretty decent photo when I want to, so I'm going to faciliate my photo shooting adventures with a decent camera.

My awesome little Sony DSC-W50 will continue snapping up everything in the mean time.
